Paul Poplis will make you hungry. That’s because he has a way of making any food he shoots look so irresistible you can almost taste, smell and feel it. He works in his own 5,200 square foot studio in Columbus, Ohio. The central location means he can fly anywhere in the continental U.S.A. in about a two-hours. The studio is close to both the airport and the interstate. It boasts everything a photographer could desire to get his creative juices flowing: sophisticated camera and lighting systems, superbly equipped kitchens and a prop store worthy of a Hollywood wardrobe department. Poplis takes food seriously.

Viewing his images on an empty stomach is not recommended. He specializes in capturing the color, texture and essence of food, whether it is fast food or gourmet cuisine. His photos appear in cookbooks, catalogues, on packaging, in advertising and in editorial illustration for the world’s top magazines.

He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communications degree from Ohio State University. After serving in Southeast Asia as an Air Force Photo Officer, Paul returned to Ohio State to earn a Master of Arts in Photography degree. Later he went to Munich, Germany for post-graduate study at the Agfa Phototechnikum.
